Assessment to employment — and beyond.
Our model turns barriers into a structured learning plan, practical skill demonstrations, and ongoing retention support.
One place. One plan. A connected path forward.
ABC's One Place Skills and Credential Model brings assessment, academic learning, digital skills, workplace practice, credential preparation and employment transition together through one coordinated program.
One Participant Execution Plan and an assigned ABC contact connect the services so participants do not have to arrange a separate program for every skill gap. ABC coaches guide the learning; qualified outside providers deliver regulated training and examinations when required. Services depend on assessed need, funding and provider availability.
GED preparation with Aztec
Coach-supported GED and foundational learning using Aztec resources. Aztec assessments guide pre-GED or GED preparation in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies, with English or Spanish resources as available. Official tests and credentials remain with authorized testing bodies.
Northstar digital assessment
Assess computer skills and target instruction in the digital tasks participants need for work.
City exam preparation
Practice reading, mathematics, writing, reasoning, following directions and test-taking skills for a selected city job examination.
Tools and training matched to your goal
Academic and workplace skills
Reading, writing, grammar, proofreading, mathematics, communication, time management and professional documentation.
Assessment and career exploration
For HRA referrals, ABC first requests the authorized IVAP and existing TABE and CareerScope results rather than routinely repeating valid tests. Northstar assesses digital skills, typing.com records speed and accuracy, and O*NET supports career exploration. Targeted work samples clarify remaining needs. Licensed tools require confirmed access.
Supported learning
ABC coaches may use Khan Academy and supervise ChatGPT and Grammarly for writing practice. Participants must demonstrate their skills independently; confidential information stays out of these tools.
Pathway-specific credentials
OSHA 10/30, CPR and NYC Food Protection preparation are planned when relevant and funded, with qualified providers and official credential procedures.
City jobs and civil service exams
Review the selected job title and current official Notice of Examination, eligibility, filing dates and test subjects. Record priority skills and practice in the Participant Execution Plan. ABC does not administer city exams or guarantee a score or hire.
Wellness and interview attire
Planned wellness access and clothing support will help participants prepare for interviews. Gym access requires confirmation; needs beyond instruction are referred to appropriate providers.

Identify academic, digital, communication, workplace, and occupation-specific needs.

The twelve-week pilot
Proposed Jamaica YMCA computer lab · Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM · Up to 25 participants.
The proposed pilot can serve up to 25 participants, subject to funding, referrals and confirmed capacity. Individual plans follow assessed needs. Launch depends on sufficient funding, written facility terms, insurance, authorized learning tools and an agreed referral process. Enrollment dates have not been announced.
Assess and plan
Complete intake, consent and relevant baseline tasks. Agree on up to three measurable goals in the Individualized Remediation Plan (Form A). Record the instruction, practice, schedule, responsibilities and supports in a separate Participant Execution Plan.
Teach and practice
Provide targeted instruction, workplace simulations and independent practice. Review evidence weekly and revise the plan as needed.
Reassess and transition
Use different but comparable tasks to verify skill gains, document remaining needs and support the next employment or training step.
Retention and the next phase
Pilot follow-up is planned at 30, 90, 180 and 365 days. Employer-referred remediation, fast-track services and employer/employee mediation are planned for Phase 2 after pilot capacity, costs and outcomes are reviewed.

The daily pilot schedule
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Coaching and structured remediation run from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. Optional wellness and participant questions are scheduled from 1:00–2:00 PM. During that hour, coaches document progress, update records and prepare for the next day, with assigned coverage for participant questions. Gym access depends on the facility agreement.
Participant records distinguish actual service time, breaks and optional wellness. HRA determines any work-related attendance requirements; ABC does not make compliance or sanction decisions.
Coaches and coordinated support
Nicole L. Beecher leads the program for 40 hours weekly: 25 onsite and 15 at home for administration. Marsha Beecher works 20 hours weekly: 10 onsite and 10 at home. Two hired part-time Workforce Remediation Coaches each work 25 hours weekly, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM.
Nicole oversees follow-up, Marsha maintains the calendar and records, and assigned staff coordinate participant contacts. Continued follow-up beyond the twelve-week pilot depends on funded staffing or an agreed handoff. Chantal Miller's SLK Training LLC is the planned CPR and OSHA training provider, subject to funding and final arrangements; Marsha supports Food Protection preparation within her qualifications.
